Website Design & Marketing Blog
In between web design projects for clients I like to keep busy by playing with web design layouts and creating new web design concepts. I have not shared any of my experimental web design with anyone but have decided it might be both fun and informative.
In future I will be posting new web design studies for your enjoyment. I hope these studies will offer both inspiration and insights into web design. If you happen to be looking for a similar web design for your own site then do get in touch. Also feel free to leave your comments and thoughts below.
So the idea was fairly simple. I wanted to create a web design for a blog about style and fashion that would be clean, simple and minimalist in its look and so place the visitor’s attention squarely on the beautiful imagery that I had selected for the site.
Besides drawing attention to stunning photography which is evident on any good fashion or style blog or magazine site, the web design also needed to display multiple articles and posts. If you’ve ever visited a quality magazine website regardless of its topic, you will note that there is always lots of content. Thus the design needed to have a number of areas that could be used to display various content types and categories.
In the end, I created three distinct homepage/blog layouts that I think work pretty well. Each layout had multiple content display sections that could be configured to display content from various categories or filters. I also played with a few simple page and post layouts.
While this web design study theme was fashion and style, the layouts should work well for many kinds of blogs or magazine sites covering a wide range of topics. Food and Architectural sites come to mind as they are both quite visual subjects.
So, feel let me know what you think about this web design study. What do you like about it?
